Clemson football landed a big target on Wednesday as four-star defensive tackle Tyler Davis picked the Tigers over the likes of Ohio State and Florida State.

Losing Clelin Ferrell (potentially) and Austin Bryant as well as Dexter Lawrence and Christian Wilkins won’t be easy to recover from, but when Dabo Swinney is recruiting at the level he currently is, there’s no need to panic as Clemson just reloads, it never seems to rebuild anymore.

The Tigers landed four-star defensive tackle Tyler Davis on Wednesday afternoon to kick off early signing day. He picked Clemson over the likes of Ohio State and ACC rival Florida State.

Though the Tigers will likely be losing an entire line of starters on defense, they’ll likely have one of the youngest, most talented lines in the nation for 2019.

Don’t get me wrong, Ferrell, Bryant, Lawrence and Wilkins are virtually impossible to replace, but adding Davis on the interior along with arguably the best class of defensive linemen in the nation signed in 2018 (they’ll all be either redshirt freshmen or sophomores) will make things so much easier to digest.

Davis has a solid frame at defensive tackle, standing 6-foot-1 and weighing in at 293 pounds. He’s a strong, wide tackle with plenty of polished moves and the ability to just overpower offensive linemen.

Clemson continues its hot recruiting on the trail as its already signed 26 players for 2019 and Davis is the highest-rated linemen in the Tigers’ class, ranked No. 161 nationally and No. 12 in terms of defensive tackles, per 247Sports.

Though he would be one of the lowest-ranked defensive linemen in Clemson’s 2018 class, he is a premier recruit in 2019 and one who could have an instant impact on the interior.
