Over the past decade or so, the running back position in Gainesville has been very hit-and-miss. Nay’Quan Wright believes he is the man to change all of that.

Wright, a four-star recruit, brings a wealth of success and yards with him from Miami’s Carol City High School. The 5-foot-9, 195-pounder helped lead his school to the 2016 FHSAA Class 6A state championship, where he recorded over 100 yards and scored two touchdowns in the title game.

As a junior, Wright and Carol City reached the regional championship, finishing up in the regional semifinals this past season. Early on, it was very noticeable that the skills were there for Wright, as he recorded over 1,700 yards and 20 touchdowns as a freshman and sophomore.

Interest quickly started picking up, as Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, LSU and others are offered Wright a scholarship. He suffered an injury that caused him to miss time, but as he told 24/7 Sports, he is ready to “compete for national championships.”

“I am just ready to be one to make a name for myself,” Wright said. “I have a name in the high school level but I am ready to make a name for myself at the college level and help my team compete for National Championships. I am just going to do what I know and learn from the guys and try and build from there and go in and just compete. I am a competitor and I just want to help the team. I am willing to take any workload they give me.”
