5. Guaranteed starter

If Justin Fields transferred to Florida State, he would be the Noles’ starting quarterback.

Since winning the national championship with Jameis Winston in 2014, the Noles have suffered a series of unfortunate events at the quarterback position.

Former head coach Jimbo Fisher certainly recruited well at FSU, but the quarterbacks came and went—many of them to Netflix and Last Chance U before moving on to other schools, including De’Andre Johnson, John Franklin III, and Malik Henry.

With quarterback Deondre Francois graduating Florida State and likely transferring, and No. 3 pro-style quarterback Sam Howell flipping to North Carolina, the Noles are left with James Blackman—a capable signal caller, no doubt, but not one to challenge Fields for the starting position.
