LSU football landed a monster defensive tackle in Siaki Ika from Salt Lake City, Utah, on Wednesday to kick off the early signing period.

Ed Orgeron got himself another workhorse in the trenches on Wednesday as four-star Siaki Ika committed to LSU football instead of staying out west and over Alabama.

LSU was the favorite to land the 6-foot-3, 351-pound monster from Salt Lake City, Utah, but there’s always a chance for Nick Saban to get the close when he’s involved. He’s one of the biggest recruits in the entire 2019 class and he will have an early impact for LSU despite not really filling a position of need.

The defensive line will be returning plenty of talent next season and that includes depth. He may not be on the one or two lines, but he will likely see some early action with that college-ready body. Heck, he has the frame that could compete in the NFL right now.

It’s tough to tell how his strength will translate, but he was virtually unblockable at the high school level at the nose tackle spot and he possesses more athleticism and speed than you would think a 351-pounder would have.

The Tigers have one of the best defenses in college football and have had just that for years. It doesn’t look to be changing any time soon with additions like Ika and others to close out the 2019 class.

Ika is ranked No. 159 in the class and is the 11th-best defensive tackle as well as the No. 1 player from Utah, according to 247Sports. He will be a star at LSU before it’s all said and done.
