Miami football will have plenty to ask for this holiday season but here are the five most important things on every Hurricanes fan’s wish list.

The Miami Hurricanes finished the 2018 regular season with a record of 7-5. Coming off of a 10-win 2017 season, a seven-win effort was a massive letdown. To add insult to injury the ‘Canes defensive coordinator, Manny Diaz, is the new head football coach of the Temple Owls.

Mark Richt decided to promote from within and Miami will have co-defensive coordinators. The ‘Canes defense finished the regular season seventh overall per the S&P+. The offense and kicking game, however, are in desperate need of support.

The Hurricanes are in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl facing off in a rematch against the Wisconsin Badgers. Rumors are floating that starting quarterback N’Kosi Perry is suspended and Jarren Williams, the freshman, had to be talked out of transferring.

Now on to the wish list.

5. A punter

Two-star punter Louis Hedley is expected to sign and enroll in January at the University of Miami. Hedley is a 6-foot-4, 215-pound punter out of the City College of San Francisco. He’s tattooed and a native of Mandurah, Australia. The ‘Canes have had abysmal kicking games since Mark Richt took over in Coral Gables.

Miami’s current punters are legacy player Zach Fealges and Jack Spicer. Feagles averaged 38.9 yards per punt including shanks during key situations. Spicer didn’t fare any better averaging 37.1 yards per punt.

Hedley seems completely committed but losing the Aussie would really hurt a Miami program that’s already ranked 100th overall in kicking game per the S&P+.
