Miami football recruiting has hit a low under Mark Richt. Here are the five must-have targets in the Hurricanes’ 2019 class.

There are currently 13 players signed to the Miami Hurricanes’ 2019 recruiting class heading the 2018 offseason. Miami finished the regular season with a 7-5 record, three wins lower than their 2017 Orange Bowl campaign. With Manny Diaz heading off to Temple to be the Owls’ head football coach Miami lost a few commitments.

The ‘Canes have also lost players at key positions like wide receiver Jeff Thomas who transferred to Illinois and graduating senior defensive tackle Gerald Willis to the NFL Draft. If Mark Richt wants to establish a legacy of winning the ACC Coastal he needs to reload, not rebuild in 2019.

Per 247Sports, Miami’s current recruiting class is ranked 33rd in the nation and fifth in the ACC. The ‘Canes are in a hotbed of prep football talent surrounded by Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. The Hurricanes have locked in a few four-star players in wide receiver Jeremiah Payton, safety Keontra Smith, and defensive end Jahfari Harvey leading the way.

Here are the five prospects Miami needs to round off the Hurricanes’ 2019 recruiting class.
