West Virginia Football: 5 bold predictions for Camping World Bowl vs. Syracuse
1. West Virginia wins by double figures
Eight wins might seem like a disappointment, but there’s a good chance the Mountaineers would be in line for a 10-win campaign had they not had a game cancelled earlier in the year.
Still, there’s plenty to play for, including pride.
Dana Holgorsen has just two bowl wins in his time as head coach of the Mountaineers, dating back to 2011. He’s just 2-4 in bowl games and he’s due for another victory and he has a winnable battle against the Syracuse Orange approaching.
West Virginia is going to take advantage of a winnable matchup against a mediocre defense, even without Will Grier. The Mountaineers will get out to a big lead early on, 14-0, and they will keep that pace for most of the game, holding a two-touchdown lead.
The Mountaineers will finish the game with a 38-24 victory even though Jack Allison and Trey Lowe III have a combined 10 pass attempts in their college careers.
Holgorsen will have plenty to build on after this one and he should feel good about the future of the program.
