West Virginia Football: 3 reasons Mountaineers will win Camping World Bowl

2. The offense will survive without Will Grier
Will Grier would have had a field day against the Syracuse defense, but he opted to prepare for the upcoming NFL draft and his hopeful future instead. Now, West Virginia will turn the offense over to Jack Allison and Trey Lowe, as they are both given an early opportunity to impress the coaching staff and claim the job heading into 2019.
Allison is the more experienced of the two, as he has attempted 10 passes this season, completing six of them for 75 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He is also a prototypical pocket passer, standing 6-foot-6 and weighing over 200 pounds.
He also follows in a long line of quarterbacks to transfer to West Virginia, as Allison previously was enrolled at Miami. Grier, Skyler Howard and Clint Trickett have all landed in Morgantown.
Lowe, meanwhile, has yet to attempt a pass, as he was a three-star recruit out of Tennessee. He also is more of a runner, like Howard before him, presenting a different set of skills for defenses to prepare for.
