3. Eric Dungey is vastly underrated

Throughout his entire football career, Eric Dungey was vastly underrated as a quarterback. The announcing crew for ESPN covering the Camping World Bowl talked of Dungey’s road to Syracuse, growing up in California. Dungey sent his tape to every Pac-12 school and did not receive and offer from any of them. Dungey then made the difficult decision to venture east and play football at Syracuse.

All he did at Syracuse, is break most of the passing records that were held by former Orangemen quarterback and former NFL Pro-Bowler Donavan McNabb. In his career, Eric Dungey passed for 9,037 yards and 57 touchdowns and rushed for 1,971 yards and 35 touchdowns to finish with well over 10,000 total yards in his career and 92 total touchdowns in his career. I think this goes down as a being criminally underrated.

Perhaps it’s fitting then that Dungey capped off his career with a near-storybook season. The Orange will finish inside the Top 15 in the final national ranks, not bad for a program which squared off with two of the four College Football Playoff teams and nearly pulled off a stunning upset along the way.
