4. Seth Littrell

Seth Littrell was signed, sealed and all but delivered to leave North Texas for Kansas State before the deal fell through. Rumors were that he wasn’t going to have full control over hiring decisions in Manhattan, KS. Blake James had been pretty hands off with Richt and his hiring, including the hiring of Jon Richt as quarterback coach.

Littrell has turned the North Texas football program around from a laughing stock into a bowl team. UNT has played in a bowl all three seasons under Littrell and his overall record is 23-17. Littrell has an innovative offense with quarterback Mason Fine throwing for 3,793 yards and 27 touchdowns with only five interceptions. Fine averaged 8.1 yards per passing attempt through 2018.

UNT finished the season with a 9-3 record and a ranking of 31st per the S&P+. The Mean Green offense was 33rd, the defense 48th and the kicking game fifth by the same S&P+ metrics. That shows a strong focus on developing a full program dedicated to details and program-wide excellence. Littrell has ACC experience having served as the UNC offensive coordinator during former head coach Larry Fedora’s best seasons in Chapel Hill, NC.
