4. The Texas Longhorns have just been too inconsistent

The Longhorns may be one of the biggest question marks of the 2018 season. A team that has missed the post season the last couple seasons, a New Years Six berth is a big deal for sure. However, let us go back through the adventure of a season for the Longhorns.

It all started in Week one against Maryland. Social media was laughing endlessly as the Longhorns fell to the Terrapins, 34-29. Everyone was once again sure that Texas was officially not back — unless you were talking about back to the bottom of the barrel. They then only beat Tulsa by a touchdown and everyone was once again sure that Texas was done before the season really got started.

However, they followed that up with a victory of USC — no matter how questionable the strength of the win is. Even more shocking, they knocked off the Oklahoma team that just lost to Alabama in the College Football Playoff. A few weeks later, the Longhorns were struggling with Baylor and losing to Oklahoma State and everyone had never ending questions over who this team really was.

A one point loss to West Virginia was the nail in the coffin in terms of making it to the playoff, but New Year’s Six was still on the table for Texas and they did just enough to win the remaining games and push themselves into this Sugar Bowl spot. However, in my opinion, the inconsistency of the Longhorns will be detrimental in this one.
