What better way is there to start the year than with a face off between Kentucky and Penn State football. Let’s talk bold predictions for the Citrus Bowl, shall we?

The 2019 calendar year is coming and one of the first games that will be televised will be the Citrus Bowl — one in which the Kentucky Wildcats will take on the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Many are quite excited for this game, that is for sure. Both teams were part of the fight for their respective conference titles and as a result, this game promises to be a big mess of football in which neither team is ready to give up or give in.

Enough beating around the bush though, let’s talk bold predictions.

5. If Kentucky wins this one, it will be due to turnovers

The Kentucky defense has been what many would consider the best part of the team. It is the unit that hasn’t struggled this season like the offense or at times even the special teams. Kentucky, despite for a moment having dreams of an SEC East title, found that a slow and unproductive offense was the quickest way to kill said dreams.

However, the defense, has been extremely good. They have forced ten fumbles this season. That isn’t good news for a Penn State team that has been extremely good at the exact opposite — putting the ball on the ground as they lost a Big Ten-most 12 fumbles with at least one in each of the last nine games. Not exactly numbers that the Nittany Lions are proud of in the least.

My first bold prediction? Kentucky has the ability to win this game, but if they do it will be because of their defensive effort.
