3. Williams’ 93-yard TD to break single-season rushing record vs. NC State

This is Williams’ second mention in the countdown, though his sheer presence and how much of an impact he made this season warrants a countdown all to itself. While that isn’t what this is, this slide will be all about everything Williams has done in an Aggie uniform to make him one of the best to ever wear Maroon and White.

No, that isn’t an exaggeration or me just being nice. Trayveon Williams made an impact from the get-go as an Aggie. He put up 1,057 yards in his first season, becoming the first true freshman in Texas A&M history to eclipse 1,000 yards on the ground. He didn’t hit that mark again in his sophomore season due to the presence of Keith Ford, but he still put up nearly 800- finishing at 798 for the year. However, it was his junior season that put him over the top and the play that changed it all comes in at No. 3 in our countdown.

If you read the words of the tweet above you know exactly what happened, but let me set the scene anyway. The Aggies are set up at their own 7-yard line, looking to simply get out of their own red zone to give themselves more room to work. Of course, that isn’t exactly what happened. What happened? Trayveon Williams ran for 93 yards for the score that’s what.

However, this wasn’t just any big time run and score. That run broke a three-decade-old record and made Trayveon Williams the single-season rushing record for Texas A&M Football- sitting at 1,760 on the season. It was the uber-successful season that made Williams decide to end his college career in favor of the NFL. All things considered though, he is absolutely one of the best to ever do it in College Station.
