Texas A&M Football: Aggies’ Top 10 Moments of 2018
By Shelbie Warr
6. Junior running back Trayveon Williams’ OT touchdown to beat Kentucky.
For the first time in this countdown, Aggie running back Trayveon Williams’ checks in. Of course, he does so with one of his biggest moments of the season — and let me tell you there were quite a few of them that made it hard to narrow it down to just a play or two. His first play on the countdown will be the game winner in OT against Kentucky. The touchdown is shown below and man was it an exciting one.
At the time, that win felt like everything. It felt like things were finally changing in Aggieland. It was the first time in a long time, Tennessee in 2016 to be exact, since Texas A&M had beaten a highly ranked and highly touted conference opponent. The rest of the season following the Tennessee win didn’t play out as Aggies would have hoped, but the year following the Kentucky win sure did and because of that, this win is that much bigger.
In his first year, Jimbo Fisher led his team to a victory over a team that would go on to win a New Years Six bowl over a relatively talented Penn State team. Even bigger though, Trayveon Williams outplayed Benny Snell in this one. His defense was able to bottle up the self-proclaimed best running back in the conference while his offensive line was able to help him have a game to remember against a pretty strong defense from Kentucky.
