2. Eric Dungey may be irreplaceable

It’s been a great ride for Eric Dungey at Syracuse. The senior quarterback capped off his career with 2,868 yards passing and 18 touchdowns as well as 754 rushing yards and 15 more scores. He was a scoring machine during his time in Syracuse and that’ll be tough to replace moving forward.

Chance Amie, a 2018 class recruit, could be the next dual-threat to take over unless Dino Babers wants to stick with a guy who has already played some.

Syracuse currently has zero quarterbacks committed or signed in its 2019 recruiting class which could end up being a disaster, especially if it doesn’t go after a transfer this offseason.

It all depends on the progression of redshirt freshman Tommy Devito who backed up Dungey this season and finished with 525 yards and four touchdowns with three picks and a 50.6 completion rate. Not great numbers, but something to work with for sure. He’s not the same type of dual-threat that Dungey was, though.

Dungey will likely be an irreplaceable piece for the Orange heading into the 2019 season barring a major turnaround for Devito.
