Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M football had a successful season in 2018, however, there’s still a long way to go. What must the Aggies improve on before 2019?
A year ago, Texas A&M was barely treading water after losing a third straight bowl game and saying goodbye to head coach Kevin Sumlin. Now, they are a program on the up and up after putting together a relatively strong and successful season in 2018.
However, this team still has quite a bit of fixing to do before the 2019 season. Here are just six of those must have fixes for a successful 2019 campaign.
6. Flush out the culture of Kevin Sumlin for good
This is one of those fixes that partially happens on its own with classes that functioned under that coach graduating and moving on. However, this has to happen sooner rather than later for this program to move from a middle of the road SEC team to a group competing for that coveted SEC title. To beat out the likes of Alabama, Florida, Georgia and LSU, the unit has to improve quite a bit before 2019 and the start of that is a culture change.
Kevin Sumlin was a great recruiter and as such many players felt connected to him. Though he wasn’t the best at developing the talent that he had and that showed on the field. Now, the Aggies have Jimbo Fisher who is set on it not “being like it used to be.”
For that statement to really sink in, this team has to buy in to what Fisher and Co. is selling them. It can’t be just a few guys either, it has to be everyone on every single level.
