Penn State football ended the season on a disappointing note with a close 27-24 loss to Kentucky in the Citrus Bowl.

Penn State finished the season 9-4 after having high hopes entering the 2018 season. They were ranked in the Top 10 and had a strong chance to compete for a playoff spot.

Unfortunately, they lost three conference games against Ohio State, Michigan, and Michigan State. That trio from the Big Ten East has stood in the way the past few seasons and kept Penn State out of the playoff.

The best win of the season was against Wisconsin, who did not live up to the preseason hype and finished the season 8-5. Penn State won that game in convincing fashion with a score of 22-10 at home.

The worst loss of the season was against Michigan, as the Nittany Lions did not even compete against a streaking Michigan team that would have made the playoff had they not lost to Ohio State in their last regular season game. Here are five takeaways from the 2018 season.
