Kentucky football had quite the season in 2018, proving they are no longer just a basketball school. Out of everything though, what moments really stood out?

We all know the Kentucky Wildcats are good at basketball. There is no secret about that. However, this season Kentucky showed us that they are more than just a basketball school and an occasional baseball standout- they are a football program to be reckoned with and that is something that very few people were expecting.

Now that their season has come to an end, let’s talk about the high points of quite an exciting Kentucky year- starting with one big time name that everyone should know by now: Josh Allen.

7. Josh Allen impressed and impressed and impressed some more.

There have been good linebackers this season and it has been said multiple times that defense wins championships. However, the Kentucky defense took that to a new level and it was led by the likes of linebacker Josh Allen. There wasn’t a singular moment to settle in on for Allen as he made huge play after huge play to help his team get to where it ended up as winners of the Citrus Bowl.

There is a reason that this guy is being talked about as a top pick, it’s because he has earned it. This year he finished with 88 total tackles- 56 solo and 32 assists. He had 21.5 tackles for loss and 17 sacks on the year. Most exciting of all, he forced five fumbles and recovered two. Simply put, despite some great players on the offense, Josh Allen was the MVP of this team and is a big-time reason that they made it to the Citrus Bowl and eventually beat out Penn State.
