If you are a fan of Iowa football, you know that fans are always expecting the unexpected, and 2018 provided plenty of those moments.

The 2018 season was thought to be a season in which Iowa returned to national prominence with a double-digit win season. They were led by one of the most explosive offenses of the Kirk Ferentz era, led by players such as quarterback Nate Stanley and the NFL-caliber tight end duo of Noah Fant and T.J. Hockenson. Paired up with one of the deepest defensive lines in all of college football and a veteran secondary, it appeared that everything was falling into place in Iowa City.

Unfortunately, things do not always go according to plan and this was one of those seasons. A critical three-game losing streak to Penn State, Purdue and Northwestern doomed any chances of Iowa at least making it to Indianapolis and competing in the Big Ten Championship. To call the season a complete disappointment is a bit reach, as Iowa did win three of their four trophy games and knocked off 18th-ranked Mississippi State in the Outback Bowl.

But with every Iowa season, there are some incredible moments that are manufactured by the Black and Gold, from last-second wins to the always inspiring wave to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital, these were the five best moments of Iowa’s season.
