Florida Gators: Most likely to win the SEC East

Georgia fans may fight me on this one and honestly I am more than ready for it. Florida is easily the favorite to win the East in 2019, even with the likes of Feleipe Franks at quarterback. Yeah, I said it, Franks really isn’t the quarterback that Dan Mullen and Co. need to make this team as successful as they really want to be, but he is enough to get them to Atlanta next season as long as the defense steps up and continues with the hardcore fighting spirit that we saw week in and week out in 2018.

Let’s just compare the two teams that would be playing for this title, possibly three if you include Kentucky. Georgia just got wrecked by the likes of Texas in the Sugar Bowl. Are the Longhorns actually good? Maybe, but they aren’t good enough to knock off a team that should be in the Top 4. All that tells me is that the Bulldogs weren’t playoff ready in the first place, no matter how much they complained.

Florida, on the other hand, dismantled a Michigan team that was supposed to be one of the best teams in the nation in terms of defense. No matter what, they got their butts handed to them by the Gators, 41-15, in the Peach Bowl. Michigan was also once a Top 4 team, but a loss to Ohio State killed that dream. Looking at the way that the bowl games turned out right now, the Gators seem a clear favorite to me and that is why I have dubbed them most likely to win the SEC East in 2019.
