6. Chris Davis, CB, Birmingham Iron

Chris Davis, a former cornerback for the Auburn Tigers is probably best known for the well known “Kick Six” which vaulted Auburn over Alabama in the esteemed Iron Bowl rivalry game in 2013.

Oddly enough, that famous play was the only kick return that Davis brought back for a touchdown after he was installed as the kick returner during his senior season in college.

He was part of an Auburn defense that usually does not fail to impress and is always one of the most stifling defenses in the country.

In Davis’ case, it wasn’t necessarily the body of work that he put together as a college player, but rather one seemingly everlasting play ingrained in the minds of all college fans alike.

That’s not to say his college stats weren’t terrible either –– he totaled 119 career solo tackles and 24 passes defended while being named to an All-American by Sporting News in 2013.

While his NFL career was stationed out west after having stints with the San Diego Chargers and the San Francisco 49ers, Davis’ professional career has now come full circle.

Now set to be a member of the Birmingham Iron, Davis returns to his hometown of Birmingham, where in high school, he committed to Auburn as a three-star recruit.

Davis’ age (at 28) might hinder his odds at an NFL return, but a strong performance this season could lead to another shot at the NFL just like any other player in the league.
