No. 3: Javonne Shepherd, Offensive Tackle

When you look at college football’s elite teams year-after-year — Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma — what’s something they all have in common? Other than consistency at the helm, these teams continually corral the best-available talent, regardless of what they already have on their roster; Texas could once again join that elite tier on National Signing Day.

Even without signing Bamidele Olaseni, the Longhorns already have two four-star offensive lineman. Adding another to the mix in the form of Javonne Shepherd would give Texas enough guys up front to bankrupt a buffet.

At 6-foot-6 and 327 pounds, he stacks up well with his potential-Texas teammates. This size, coupled with his ability to play the position, forced nearly everyone to take notice of his talents while playing JUCO ball. Shepherd’s received 26 scholarship offers, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan and Oklahoma. So while Texas seems to be at the top of his list, there’s a glimmer of hope for his other top-level suitors, as well.
