4. Get back to defending the home front.

In 2016 and 2017, this team was extremely good at home. Not just good either, really good- undefeated kind of good. For two straight years, the Trojans didn’t lose a single home game. That is a big deal, especially when the Pac-12 is playing well. That being said, the fact that USC actually got worse in 2018 in terms of defending the home front tells me one thing, the team was even worse than meets the eye because the Pac-12 was a mess this past season.

Let me tell you this though, if you have fans willing to pay for signs to fly above the stadium on a game day demanding their coach be fired, maybe he isn’t doing well enough at home. Fans shouldn’t be doing that at all. It also goes back to the recruiting topic that we talked about in the last slide as well. If you aren’t winning at home, what is it that you are going to impress recruits with when it comes to game day visits?

To do well, you have to recruit well and doing well includes winning at home. Being undefeated at home for 2019, just like they were in 2017 and 2016 would be a great way to save Helton’s job. At the very least, finishing with a record of two games over .500 would be a start.
