3. Consistency is key

I’m a Texas A&M fan, so trust me when I tell you that consistency is very much the key to be successful in the SEC. Winning at the start of the season or the end of the season is great and all, but the middle? That is the important part and this season the Gators struggled to be consistent enough to win the SEC East, much less the entire conference.

Let’s look at the three losses that this team suffered this year.

All three were in conference, putting them at a 5-3 mark in the SEC — something that will absolutely not send you to the championship game. First, like we discussed earlier, the Gators lost to Kentucky for the first time in three decades. That is quite the disappointing loss when everyone and their momma expects you to win that game.

The next loss was semi expected — the Georgia Bulldogs. While that loss won’t fly if you want to win the East, it was expected in 2018 as no one had really given the Gators the time of day yet. They had pulled off some impressive wins, but they still had only won four games the season before and fans were a bit apprehensive to buy into the team.

The last loss is absolutely inexcusable and I promise you that fans know that as does the team. Just like Kentucky, after losing to Georgia, a disappointing loss followed. For Florida, that loss was Missouri and they were owned in every facet of the game. Simply put, consistency was a big issue for the Gators in 2018 and if they want to win the whole thing in 2019, that has to be fixed as soon as possible.
