With NFL Draft season in full swing after All-Star games, it’s time to take a look at 10 prospects who could surprisingly find themselves selected in the first round.
Postseason college All-Star games, particularly the Reese’s Senior Bowl, signal the beginning of NFL Draft season. With the college football season over, and with only the Super Bowl remaining in the NFL season, everyone’s focus is beginning to turn toward the NFL Draft.
That will be the case even more after next week when the Super Bowl champion is crowned and we get past National Signing Day for recruiting. NFL Draft content will be craved as the last little bit of sunlight before the long darkness of the offseason overtakes our collective conscientious and we wander aimlessly until the end of August.
The Senior Bowl provided the first opportunity for NFL Draft prospects to improve their draft stock and make a name for themselves outside of the college gridiron. There were numerous players who made a positive impact and will see their draft stocks rise as we move closer to the combine and pro-days.
Other prospects have seen their stocks fall after lackluster showings in Mobile or at one of the other All-Star games, and will now be turning their full attention to the combine and their respective pro-days as they look to make up for those struggles.
The Senior Bowl finally provided some movement among prospects as everything had been relatively stagnant for the last couple of months since the end of the college football season, with the only real draft excitement coming from underclassmen foregoing their final year(s) of eligibility to enter the draft.
Oklahoma Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray was the most interesting name to declare for the draft, potentially eschewing the $4.5 million signing bonus he agreed to with the Oakland Athletics when he was selected in the first round of the MLB Draft last year.
With draft season in full swing now we have the ability to begin projecting some big movers up and down draft boards between now and April. We’ll take a look at 10 prospects each who have helped themselves to the point that they could hear their names called in the first round, and those who could fall down to day two or further in the coming days.
