SEC football is full of strong players who have made the decision to take their talents to the NFL Draft. Which players are the best of the best?

Year after year, SEC football is home to some of the best players that the nation has seen. Those players have NFL Scouts salivating just watching them begin their preparations for the next level.

This piece will just scratch the surface of those players, including only the top 10. However, there are plenty of guys that will be left out of this that will be drafted within the first day or two. If you are looking for a section on Benny Snell, Damien Harris or Trayveon Williams, this won’t be your piece.

On that note, let’s get started with the 2018 Jim Thorpe Award Winner, DeAndre Baker.

The first player on this countdown is Georgia defensive back DeAndre Baker. The senior has had an extremely successful career in Athens, all culminated into a Jim Thorpe Award as the nation’s best defensive back in 2018. That kind of stuff doesn’t happen by accident.

In 2018, Baker was the best of the best in the SEC. He finished with 40 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and a recovered fumble. He has 12 passes defended to his name and was always around the ball the second it went into the air. The word “ballhawk” comes to mind when thinking of Baker for sure.

He is an excellent cover man, but to some lacks that elite speed that is necessary to move up to the next level. All that being said, his pros outweigh the cons and because of that he starts out this top ten group and will make a splash in the NFL.
