How can a commit be a target still? Well, it’s because John Rhys Plumlee is committed to Georgia but didn’t sign his letter of intent back in the early period. He’s been committed since June, but when he didn’t sign back in December, there was a collective feeling that he would seek other options for a backup plan.

Why is this? Because Georgia did sign a quarterback in the early period named Dwan Mathis, a former Ohio State, Iowa State and Michigan State pledge. That left Plumlee as the second quarterback in the class and watching his program go after another passer had to be a big hit against his trust, which may be why he’s visiting other schools ahead of National Signing Day.

The four-star dual-threat could also be considered an athlete and it all depends on what position he wants to play at the next level. If he wants to remain quarterback, he could be better off elsewhere (such as Ole Miss who he recently visited) but if he’s open to other positions, he could stick with his original commitment.

Still, he’s a talented player who the Bulldogs could use as a depth piece either at quarterback or even at a spot like slot receiver with his 6-1, 185-pound frame. He’s listed as the No. 352 recruit in the class and the 12th-best dual-threat.
