How can Georgia get back at Texas for the Sugar Bowl defeat? Stealing Javonne Shepherd would be a nice consolation prize. The four-star offensive tackle from Houston has been committed to the Longhorns since July but he’s been shopping around for a potential better option — not a knock against Texas, by any means.

Shepherd would be joining a relatively young offensive line group in Athens with three starters entering their junior years and one about to be a sophomore with the center graduating. That means he could be forced to wait at least a year to contend for starting snaps.

The four-star from Texas just took his official visit to Georgia on Jan. 24 and also visited Alabama officially. He is considering Texas A&M, too, as he almost seems like a lock to flip his commitment on signing day.

Kirby Smart would love another beefy offensive lineman as Shepherd stands 6-foot-6 and weighs in at 327 pounds. He’s one of the top tackles in the class, ranked No. 29 at the position, and is the No. 339 overall prospect in the class, according to 247Sports. He will be on flip watch as signing day approaches.
