With 2019 National Signing Day approaching, Joe Moorhead and Mississippi State football still have a few top targets left on the board.

Losing Dan Mullen to Florida last year seemed like a devastating blow to the Mississippi State football program. He was one of the best coaches the program had ever seen and he ditched the Bulldogs for another SEC school down in Gainesville.

The pain of losing Mullen was intense, but Joe Moorhead was hired on to bring more of an offensive output to Starkville. He was the Penn State offensive coordinator for a couple of years after spending time as Fordham’s head coach and he led the Bulldogs to an 8-5 season in 2018.

Not too shabby, but there’s definitely room for improvement, and that could start with his second-ever recruiting class on National Signing Day.

Who still remains on the board for Mississippi State ahead of 2019 National Signing Day?

This spot can be split between three-star cornerback Collin Duncan and three-star safety Josh Sanguinette but the Bulldogs already have four safeties committed to their 2019 class which makes a cornerback much more of a need.

On top of that, the Bulldogs are in need of cornerbacks as the depth chart is wearing thin, though they did land two three-stars a year ago, but have none committed in this class.

Duncan could contend for playing time right away and Mississippi State is the clear leader to land the Montgomery, Ala., native. He’s listed as the No. 424 player in the class and 44th-best tight end, according to 247Sports.
