6. Syracuse Orange

Syracuse has given Clemson trouble over the previous two seasons with a win over the Tigers in 2017 and a close call in 2018 when freshman sensation Trevor Lawrence went down with a concussion in the first start of his career.

Syracuse loses one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of its program in Eric Dungey whose dual-threat abilities made the fast-paced, Dino Babers offense hum in the previous three seasons. The Orange have Tommy DeVito next in line but there were times last season against tougher competitions that he didn’t look prepared to take the next step and made mistakes. DeVito also lacks the rushing ability of Dungey, but do you know who doesn’t? Kelly Bryant.

Bryant has an athleticism that DeVito lacks and has experience running in the fast-paced offenses of Clemson. Babers has sold the vision of a winning program in New York and Bryant’s winning pedigree could continue onto last season’s 10-3 success.

The Orange could pass up on Bryant considering DeVito did have his high points against North Carolina and Florida State but if they felt that he needed another year to develop, why not get a guy that plays a similar game to the guy who’s led their offenses to some of the fastest college football has seen?
