5. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

I was originally opposed to Kelly Bryant joining the Yellow Jackets because triple-option quarterbacks don’t enter the NFL at that position. Keenan Reynolds came in as a receiver, same with Justin Thomas and Josh Nesbitt played safety in the NFL and I never thought that Kelly Bryant would join Georgia Tech unless he planned on changing positions.

My mind has changed on Georgia Tech after the coaching change from Paul Johnson to Geoff Collins in the offseason.

Although the shift from the triple-option to an up-tempo spread won’t happen overnight, Collins will look to move away from the option in the long run and needs someone who can effectively throw a forward pass. Tobias Oliver is the only quarterback that I’m aware of on the Georgia Tech roster and he is your prototypical triple-option quarterback with explosive legs but little arm talent. Kelly Bryant could help speed up the transition by giving them someone with read-option experience and a bit more of an arm than the guys they have on the roster.

The scheme fit speaks for itself and the matchups against Georgia and Clemson will give him the national attention he desires as an aspiring NFL prospect. Georgia Tech is also two hours from home for Bryant who played high school football at Wren High School in Piedmont, S.C.

If Bryant decides to bounce again, Collins needs to go after him with all he has.
