Ohio State football may be without Urban Meyer, but Ryan Day is putting in the work to make 2019 National Signing Day a success.

No Urban Meyer, no problem. Ohio State has already proven to be one of the premier destinations for college football recruits, and transfers, without Meyer at the helm.

Sure, losing the national title-winning head coach hurts, but Ryan Day seems more than equipped to handle the day-to-day duties and he’s been groomed enough under Meyer’s tutelage.

Ohio State has landed Zach Harrison, a prized recruit, and Justin Fields, Georgia’s former five-star recruit who decided to transfer from the program, since Meyer’s retirement and the Buckeyes are showing no signs of slowing down.

Who is standing out atop Ohio State’s 2019 National Signing Day recruiting board?

Jonathan Allen is a local kid who the Buckeyes have been keeping tabs on, but there’s a good chance he winds up at Cincinnati with former Ohio State interim coach Luke Fickell. He could always pick the Buckeyes, but Ohio State may have other guys higher on their board at the same position.

The three-star from Dayton stands 6-foot-6 and weighs in at 315 pounds and has all the size you’d want from a collegiate offensive tackle, but is still relatively raw. He could end up being a really good one in the trenches, but he’d be waiting a while for his turn in Columbus.

Cincinnati seems to be the favorite heading into signing day, but there are programs such as Indiana, Penn State and Kentucky all vying for his services.

Allen is the No. 809 overall recruit in the class and the 62nd-best offensive tackle, according to 247Sports. He’s also the No. 38 player from the state of Ohio.
