Ohio State may be fighting a losing battle here. Four-star defensive end Isaiah Foskey looks all but destined to join Notre Dame’s 2019 recruiting class, but the Buckeyes will still hold out hope until the pen hits the paper on National Signing Day.

Notre Dame has to feel pretty comfortable about its chances with the four-star from Concord, Calif., but there’s still a chance for a team like Ohio State to swoop in and steal the pledge.

The chances of that are slim, but when you’re a blue blood like Ohio State, anything is possible on National Signing Day.

Foskey is one of the nation’s top defensive ends and he has to be taking note of just how well the Buckeyes fare on that side of the ball, particularly at the end spots. Multiple NFL prospects and No. 1 overall-caliber players — but could he be the latest to join the Buckeyes?

The 6-foot-4, 233-pounder from the West Coast is ranked the No. 203 overall prospect and 13th-best weak-side defensive end in the class, according to 247Sports. Besides the Irish and Buckeyes, Michigan, Cal and Washington are all in the running.
