Nebraska entered the offseason with a glaring need at receiver with Stanley Morgan Jr. graduating. He leaves Nebraska holding the top spot in career receptions and receiving yards, the third spot in career receiving touchdowns, the two best single-seasons in terms of yardage in his 2017 and 2018 seasons, and the fourth most touchdowns from a Nebraska receiver in a single-season.

The Cornhuskers do return JD Spielman who wasn’t too far behind Morgan last season but not much else, and that’s where Demariyon Houston comes in.

Houston was originally committed to Texas but it seems to have worked out for him to take his chances elsewhere with the surplus of receivers that Texas has brought in. The one thing that’s most important to mention about the kid from OKC is that he can absolutely fly up and down the field.

In fact, Houston ran a 10.70 100-meter and a 21.42 in the 200-meter in track and has the football speed to match. Houston played mostly as a slot receiver in high school and that served him well given his size and skill set. Scott Frost wants to bring in one more receiver in this class and a Tyreek Hill-esque player wouldn’t be the worst weapon in the arsenal.

The Huskers bring in athletes Jamie Nance and Darien Chase who are both expected to play at receiver but both are over 6-feet tall Houston is a true-slot receiver and if given the opportunity, Frost should make a spot for someone that plays this quickly. Houston also has interest in joining Texas and Colorado next season if Nebraska doesn’t pull the trigger.
