Texas A&M Football hosts an annual Super Bowl party which has quickly become a recruiting favorite. The Aggies picked up a pair of commitments over the big weekend.
The Super Bowl and National Signing Day have been combined in College Station to form the perfect college football recruiting experience. Every year the Aggies invite a host of commits and key targets to campus to watch the big game. While they’re there, the players get the chance to talk with members of the Texas A&M staff. It’s been a useful tool for the Aggies, and 2019 was no different.
With the 2019 class nearly complete, Texas A&M has turned their focus to the future. They picked up a pair of commitments from members of the 2020 class over the weekend: 3-star safety Major Burns from Baton Rouge, LA and 4-star corner Jaylon Jones from Cibolo, TX.
Burns already has 18 offers, including several from big players in the college football landscape. Notre Dame, Florida State, Mississippi State, Duke and Arizona have all thrown their hat into the ring for the Madison Prep Academy product. Likewise, Jones is also in high demand. At the time of his commitment, he held offers from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Ohio State and Texas.
If Jimbo Fisher’s eye for talent proves to be as keen as it’s looked in his first two classes at Texas A&M, both guys could become important pieces for the Aggies in the near future. For now, they’re two more members of a Top 10 recruiting class.
If the Aggies stay in that range it will be their first back-to-back top 10 classes since 2013-2014. That’s a long ways off, but clearly the momentum in Aggieland won’t be slowing down after National Signing Day. The Aggies are just getting started.
