2. Wisdom Asaboro (DT/Matthews, NC) – 3 stars

It’s a testament to how Cristobal has further taken Oregon’s program national that they are in the running for so many players on the other side of the country. They’re looking to solidify their defensive line further with three-star defensive tackle Wisdom Asaboro from Matthews, North Carolina.

Oregon has had a lot of ground to make up for Asaboro with in-state North Carolina and Virginia pushing the hardest for his services. Asaboro took official visits to Chapel Hill and Charlottesville in January, but it was Cristobal who landed the coveted final visit this past weekend with the highly regarded defensive tackle.

Auburn and Penn State have also made pushes for his signature, but it appears to be a three-horse race between North Carolina, Virginia, and Oregon, with Mack Brown’s Tar Heels seemingly out in front.

While it would be somewhat of a surprise to see Asaboro spurn North Carolina for the west coast, getting the final official visit is always big when looking to sway recruits. Oregon had the final opportunity to make an on-campus impression with the talented defensive tackle, and Cristobal has proven himself as a talented closer when it comes to recruiting.

I still see Asaboro ultimately ending up in Chapel Hill, don’t be too surprised if Cristobal steals him away on Wednesday.
