2. Marcus Harris (WDE/Montgomery, AL) – 3 stars

Washington State has made a late charge for Marcus Harris, the three-star defensive end out of Montgomery, Alabama. Leach and company extended a scholarship offer to Harris a couple of weeks ago, but they were unable to secure a visit that could have swung Harris in their favor.

Instead, Harris took a visit to Liberty in the middle of last month and Les Miles and the Kansas Jayhawks secured his final visit the weekend before signing day. It’s rare that a prospect would sign somewhere they didn’t visit, particularly when it as far away from home as Pullman is, but the Cougars are undoubtedly the most prestigious program to covet Harris.

The need for added depth off the edge was a major impetus for Leach’s late push for the Alabama product, but it might be too little, too late.

Home-state South Alabama and Willie Fritz’s Tulane are also in the running for Harris, but this appears to be Kansas’ race to lose with signing day on the horizon.

Miles was able to hold off others and secure the final visit, and with his National Championship pedigree and the potential for early playing time, it would be difficult for Harris to turn that opportunity down.
