Georgia Football: 5 Signees who’ll have instant impacts for Dawgs in 2019
Despite the truck-load of early departures on the offensive side of the ball, the offensive line remains mostly intact entering the 2019 season. With the exception of losing starting center Lamont Gaillard, Georgia returns almost every significant contributor from 2018.
The Dawgs have two players in Trey Hill and Jamaree Salyer who played center at various times last season and each will be the favorites to start heading into the spring. But keep an eye on new-arrival Clay Webb, the top-ranked five-star center from Alabama.
As an early arrival having enrolled in December, Webb has ample time to learn the offense and get comfortable in his new situation. Smart and offensive line coach, Sam Pittman, have a pipeline of high-quality talent in the wings thanks to solid recruiting efforts, but Webb has the size and skill to start right away according to Saturday Down South.
Look for Webb to push Hill and Salyer for the starting job come spring and remain a consistent contributor throughout the 2019 campaign.
As an interesting side note, signing Webb and inking George Pickens (more on him later) meant Georgia secured the top-two recruits from Alabama.
