Tennessee football may not be the best in the SEC, but they are well on their way to becoming just that. Which guys from the 2019 class will breakout this season?
The Tennessee Volunteers were among the worst teams in the SEC this season, there is no question about that. However, they started to build some confidence that many haven’t seen up on Rocky Top since Peyton Manning was there. Okay, maybe that is a bit of an overstatement, but you get my point.
The question now is this- who will make an instant impact at Tennessee in the 2019 season?
Here are five guys that could do just that.
Tennessee has their quarterback for 2019 in Jarrett Guarantano. He has shown the talent, the knowledge and the confidence a team that is rebuilding needs to make the move to the next level. Much of this list now are guys who can help be the best quarterback he can be, starting with the offensive line including the fifth ranked recruit overall, Darnell Wright out of West Virginia.
“It was just the relationships I had and a stable coaching staff,” Wright told ESPN. “Having known these people for a long time and not much has changed coaching-wise. It’s a comfortable feeling.”
He noted that the “bells and whistles” was about the same from each college on his list. Those weren’t swinging him one way or another. It was the coaching staffs and relationships, as he mentioned above, that made him chose Tennessee.
Wright made the choice to join the Volunteers over the likes of West Virginia, Alabama and North Carolina. Those are some big-name programs, one with former Texas head coach Mack Brown now at the helm and two that fought for top of the college football world at times throughout the 2019 season.
