The dust has barely even settled on the 2019 college football recruiting cycle as coaching staffs around the country turn to 2020. Who are the early leaders?

National Signing Day has come and gone and the 2019 recruiting cycle is complete. Coaches around the country will take a day or two to rest and recuperate, then it’s time to get right back at it. Recruiting never sleeps and we’ll be buzzing about the 2020 class soon enough.

While fans are taking a moment to learn the names of their universities newest players, each respective school is already making progress on next year’s class. Some schools like Alabama, LSU and Miami are almost halfway done with a class they can’t sign until December.

Here’s what the 2020 class ranks look like after the 2019 National Signing Day (total commits in parenthesis):

  1. Alabama (10)
  2. LSU (9)
  3. Miami (9)
  4. Ohio State (7)
  5. Clemson (7)
  6. Florida (7)
  7. Texas A&M (7)
  8. Florida State (6)
  9. Oklahoma (5)
  10. Wisconsin (6)
  11. Michigan (6)
  12. Auburn (5)
  13. Notre Dame (4)

  21. Mississippi State (3)
  22. Stanford (2)
  23. Duke (3)

As early as it is, the structure of this way-too-early Top 25 can tell us a great amount about the future of college football. Here are three takeaways and storylines to keep an eye on as we enter another recruiting cycle.
