One of the lowest rated signees in this 2019 Oklahoma State football recruiting class is also one of the most potent. Three-star Hutchinson C.C. and El Dorado, AR, running back Dezmon Jackson was a late addition for the Pokes just before the start of the Early Signing Period.

Oklahoma State fans will have to slow the roll of assuming that Jackson is going to be the same running back as current Seattle Seahawks standout Chris Carson was coming out of the JUCO ranks.

Most fans in Stillwater, OK, know that recruiting rankings aren’t the most accurate measure of the impact these incoming players can have on programs like Oklahoma State. Head coach Mike Gundy operates in a much different fashion than most other nationally prominent Power Five programs. His program is more similar to the likes of the Wisconsin Badgers and Michigan State Spartans.

Landing a signee like Jackson is huge for the Pokes since the need at running back is more dire than about at any other position on the offensive side of the ball. Oklahoma State did exactly what it needed to fill the running back need for the departing Justice Hill and J.D. King by landing Jackson and one more signee at the position.

However, what Oklahoma State can look for Jackson to bring to the ground game is a good amount of breakaway speed, plenty of agility, and the speed to get to the edge and pick up chunk yardage. Jackson is a dynamic running back that should add a lot for this offense over the course of the next two years.
