The need at linebacker for Oklahoma State football grew pretty large entering the 2019 off-season. Oklahoma State is set to lose Phillips and the former JUCO transfer Patrick Macon to the transfer market. This defense will need incoming talent like three-star Skyline High School and Dallas, TX, outside linebacker Kamryn Farrar to replace those departing players.

This new defense Oklahoma State runs under former Duke Blue Devils defensive coordinator Jim Knowles puts a lot of emphasis on the play of generally just two linebackers. That’s why the all-reliable Phillips in the linebacking corps last year was so important to what success the Oklahoma State defense did see.

What Farrar brings to the table for the Pokes is an underrated linebacker that has incredible pursuit off the line of scrimmage and the versatile ability to make an impact in pass coverage and run stopping. Although he ranks as the nation’s No. 827 2019 high school prospect and the No. 61 outside linebacker, his film shows that he’s likely to fulfill much more potential than that.

This 6-foot-1 and 200-pound linebacker picked Oklahoma State over competing offers from the TCU Horned Frogs, Colorado Buffaloes, and Air Force Falcons. The good size and speed that Farrar already brings for Oklahoma State straight out of Skyline is something that Knowles should be able to work with right away.
