Once again, Ole Miss needs big time defensive help and it will be coming with defensive end Sam Williams out of Northeast Mississippi C.C. He was the top ranked defensive end in the state of Mississippi, third at his position overall and eighth in the nation among JUCO players. He was the highest ranked early enrollee for the Rebels this signing period and that will surely be big for this team once spring ball arrives to have some strong defenders on roster.

The athlete had a monster 2017 season for Northeast, finishing with 53 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, and two forced fumbles. In 2018, he got that much better. He finished with 77 tackles, 17.5 sacks and four forced fumbles. Yeah, you read that one right- 17.5 sacks. To say he improved would be the understatement of the century.

Like I said before, Ole Miss needs defense and, sadly enough, their class isn’t as defensive heavy as you would think it would be. There are 11 defenders in the 31 person class that Ole Miss has pulled. All things considered though, they got a couple good defenders for sure and Williams surely is one. The defensive end also played linebacker at times in his high school career and at Northeast Mississippi C.C.
