Alabama football botched their announcement of seven new assistants with creative spelling for some of the titles of the most important hires.

Nick Saban and “the process” have nearly become synonymous. The famed Alabama head coach knows all the right buttons to press from his players up to his staff.

For Saban, that piece of the puzzle looks a bit different every offseason. The Crimson Tide have become a coaching factory, sending out assistants at a pace unsustainable by any other program in the country. Kirby Smart, Jeremy Pruitt and Mike Locksley have all graduated to head coaching jobs recently opening up the door for the next batch of Saban disciples to come down to Tuscaloosa.

The new group was formally announced the week following National Signing Day. As with most every college football informational posting, the university paired the release with personalized graphics depicting each new coach and his role on the staff.

Kyle Flood will coach the offensive line. Brian Baker will coach the defensive line. Sal Sunseri will coach outside linebackers  Holmon Wiggins will coach wide receivers. Charles Kelly, has been named the safeties coach and co-defensive “coorrdinator”. That’s right, Kelly along with Pete Golding on defense and Steve Sarkisian on offense were graced with an extra letter in their titles on Alabama’s official announcement.

The gaffe has since been corrected, but for a program which prides itself on attention to detail, an error in a publication of this importance is unexpected. Alabama doesn’t mess up often, but maybe things will change without a few “coorrdinators” on staff rather than coordinators. If this ends up being the biggest slip up out of Tuscaloosa this season the Crimson Tide will end up being just find when the fall arrives and the results count for true wins and losses.
