7. David Sills –– West Virginia

Even amongst a prolific West Virginia receiving corps, David Sills was still a standout player. Originally lauded as a top quarterback prospect all the way back in middle school, he was groomed as a wide receiver during his freshman year at West Virginia.

Interestingly enough, Sills actually left West Virginia to play junior college football before returning to Morgantown where he stamped his name on an awe-inspiring career.

As a senior in 2018, Sills led the Big 12 Conference and was ranked second nationally with 15 receiving touchdowns. He also recorded career bests that season with 65 catches and 986 receiving yards.

With a fiery and competitive nature, Sills ignited one of the best passing attacks in the country last season.

His strong route running allows him to find openings in the defense, giving him the separation he needs to make pitch-and-catches look easy. With a tall 6-foot-4 frame and long strides, he is especially potent when he gets into open space.

Given his big offensive scoring numbers –– 18 touchdowns in his junior year, 15 in his senior year –– Sills is most definitely a scoring threat.

One skill set that stood out in Sills’ play was having the wherewithal to know where he is on the field. For instance, several of his touchdown catches were back-of-the-endzone throws that required nifty footwork to stay inbounds.

Overall, Sills is extremely reliable and productive –– he averaged 15.2 yards per catch last season and is highly effective in the medium to long range passing game.
