Each season there are notable names in college football that simply aren’t projected to be selected in the early rounds despite playing for a blueblood or upper echelon program. Luckily for them, there are seven rounds in the NFL Draft and there are still opportunities for those who go undrafted to be acquired by a team through an undrafted free agent signing.
Of course, in this situation, it the level of difficulty in making an NFL roster increases significantly, but nonetheless, it is still a testament to the skills they exhibited while playing college football.
Historically, there are a host of NFL players who got taken in the later rounds and blossomed into stars. The most prominent example would be Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who was drafted in the sixth round as the 199th pick of the 2000 NFL Draft.
After winning Super Bowl LIII, Brady now owns six Super Bowl titles. Other famous names that land on this list are former Heisman Trophy winner Roger Staubach, Deacon Jones and Johnny Unitas.
