10. Saquan Hampton – Rutgers, Defensive Back

In spite of being on a team that went 1-11 in 2018, Rutgers defensive back Saquan Hampton makes for an interesting pro prospect. He was a force in the defensive backfield, anchoring a secondary that was spread microscopically thin and depleted.

Hampton registered the most interceptions on the Rutgers defense –– with two takeaways coming in a single game against Wisconsin. He also ranked second on the entire defense in solo tackles (44) and fourth in total tackles (64) along with having a team-high 13 passes defended.

After being redshirted during his freshman year, he first made a decent impact during his redshirt freshman season. He was primed to make a big jump in his redshirt sophomore season but was limited to seven games because of injury.

Nonetheless, he improved his numbers vastly between 2017 and 2018, collecting nearly double the number of tackles from the previous season.

Hampton has good anticipation and reads the quarterback’s eyes well. He also attacks the action instead of waiting it come toward him.

If he were to be drafted in April, he would join a group of well-decorated Rutgers’ defensive players that have shined in the pros including the McCourty brothers, Duron Harmon, Logan Ryan and Kemoko Turay.
