NFL Draft 2019: Top 10 bust-proof prospects entering NFL combine
By Shelbie Warr
The NFL has been kind to young edge rushers in the past few seasons for sure and it seems like Clelin Ferrell could be the next in a long line of success stories. In a game where quite a few NFL general managers and scouts were camped out waiting for big time guys to make big time plays — Ferrell shined at the defensive end position.
In the 2019 National Championship Game against Alabama, he made one of the biggest plays down the stretch. He stopped Alabama on a fourth-and-goal to go to keep Clemson up by 28.

That wasn’t the only big time play the kid made, though. He finished with three forced fumbles, 11.5 sacks and 55 total tackles. Clemson had an amazing defense, one that stifled Tua and Company in the National Championship. Ferrell was the center of that.
The only issue would be an ACL tear back in 2014, but in my opinion, he is removed enough from that to have it not be as big of a red flag for NFL general managers. He is currently fighting against Josh Allen and Nick Bosa — who we will discuss here soon — for that top spot, but I am going to tell you right now that his highlight videos don’t lie.
By year two or three, he will be a steady starter for whatever team he ends up with.
