NFL Draft 2019: Top 10 bust-proof prospects entering NFL combine
By Shelbie Warr
Josh Allen is one of the best players that Kentucky has ever seen, especially on the defensive side of the ball. For the third time in school history, the Wildcats crossed the 10-win plateau. He was a big-time part of that achievement and many were shocked they were even able to achieve that. Kentucky proved us all wrong capping off 2018 with a victory over Penn State in the Citrus Bowl.
Allen was a catalyst in the smothering defense that was the Wildcats this season. He led all FBS players in the 2018 regular season with 14 solo sacks — finishing with 17.5 overall. He’s a linebacker who specializes in edge rushing, much like Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos phenom DeMarcus Ware. He is a vicious pass rusher and that is going to be a big thing in the NFL.
If I had to pick one player to be the most likely to not be a bust, it would be Allen. He very much so carried his defense through the season. He is going to fit into an NFL defense quickly due to his speed and versatility as a linebacker as well as a pass rusher. Look for him to burst onto the scene and stay there until the day he retires.
