Notre Dame seems to have one of those truly ugly games every year where the Irish are playing well and then they seem to run into a mental roadblock against a team that they should beat with relative ease. This will be that game.

Granted, Boston College isn’t exactly a pushover anymore as the Eagles spent time in the AP Top 25 last season and looked like one of the more improved teams from the ACC, but they are nowhere near the level that the Irish are on — talent-wise. Notre Dame should win this one comfortably at home, but it won’t.

The Eagles will race out to a quick 7-0 lead before Notre Dame takes a 10-7 lead into the locker room at half. The Irish will add another touchdown halfway through the third quarter before the Eagles kick two field goals as the score is 17-13 with about 10 minutes to play.

Boston College will get the ball back once again, drive the field and settle for another field goal but the Irish will respond with a huge touchdown drive led by Ian Book. On the ensuing drive, the Irish will pick off the Eagles and tack on a field goal to end the ugly battle with a win.

Final Score: Boston College 16, Notre Dame 27 (9-2)
